Q: The High Sherriff of Cumbria Visit

On 15 th July we spent a lovely evening with The High Sheriff of Cumbria and Cumbria Community Foundation (CCF) . We talked about the work of AERG during flooding and the pandemic response and gave a guided tour of the town to show the Sheriff the areas which are impacted by flooding. We are extremely grateful to be recognised by him for our work and also to CCF for the vital funding we have received over the years, without which we would not be able to continue running. The High Sheriff commented as follows: Lovely to meet some of the team at Appleby Emergency Response Group. Founded to help deal with floods but also helping during COVID. Q: Wellbeing Reading Group

Rev Clive Hicks from St Lawrences Church in Appleby is involved with an online reading group that is centred around Wellbeing - it will run for 6 weeks starting on 20th April. Q: New Vaccination Centre opens in Penrith - Recruiting for Volunteers

We are so very proud of our very own AERG Volunteer Rebecca Page who has volunteered to work at the new vaccination site at Penrith Auction Mart which opened yesterday. She features in this video https://www.facebook.com/nhscumbriaccg/videos/280830323483235 Rebecca joined our group in March last year to help with our pandemic response and has been a crucial part of our team. Well done Rebecca!! The vaccination centre is still recruiting for volunteers - if you would like to know more then please register an interest in making an application to: nuth.penrithrecruitment@nhs.net The Penrith Auction Mart Vaccine Centre is managed by the Newcastle-upon-Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The volunteering commitment is currently until September & for a minimum of x2 4 hour shifts (mornings/afternoons, but not evenings) Tues-Sat (inclusive), however it is anticipated this will be expanded to include Sundays & evenings too in the near future.
