This morning I received a lovely email from Reverend Clive Hicks of St. Lawrence’s Church.  In July and August, our volunteers assisted with stewarding which enabled the Church to reopen for prayer.

A massive thank you to all involved.

Dear Laura,
We are so grateful for the friendly and willing contribution made by AERG volunteers during the summer months.  It is a great challenge opening and sustaining access to our historic churches in the Eden Valley, and especially at St Lawrence, as it continues to be popular with locals and visiting tourists.  You helped the churchwarden and church members develop their confidence managing access within the terms
of the risk assessment they had prepared, and your volunteers respected that framework, too.  They are now confidently welcoming 20 visitors – young and old – each time they open.
I look forward to reciprocating by volunteering, myself, but also find ways to work together in other ways in the coming weeks and months.
With much appreciation,
Revd Clive Hicks
